Manu Bhaker reveals how strict mother keeps her focussed on goals

India shooter Manu Bhaker revealed how her mother, Sumedha Bhaker’s, strictness has helped her to not go astray from her goals throughout her life. Notably, Bhaker etched her name in history books as she became just the second Indian to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games at the recent edition of the sporting event in Paris.
She opened India’s account at the sporting extravaganza winning the first medal for the nation in the women’s 10m air pistol event. She further added the second medal to the tally by winning another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh.
Recently, the Haryana-born athlete opened up on her mother’s strict upbringing which has brought the discipline in her life.
“My mother has been really strict with me, my entire life. From waking up in the morning to sleeping at night, everything she will keep on talking like it’s time wake up. And then she will be really angry if I didn’t listen, she will be like, she’ll pull the blanket, turn on the lights and turn off the fan. Life has been like this with two strict people (mother and coach),” said Manu Bhaker at the India Today Conclave in Mumbai.

Bhaker’s coach Jaspal Rana also had a hilarious take on her statement as he stated that he shares the same date of birth as her mother. The former Asian Games medalist also revealed how he remains honest with Bhaker to keep her disciplined.
“It’s not that I scold them or beat them, nothing like that. I keep the fact on the table, you want to do it, do it. But you should know that you’ve taken the place of somebody else 1st, 2nd 3rd whatever and somebody else will take your position soon or later. To come here is easy and maybe difficult but to remain here is impossible,” Rana added.
